„The Beginnings of Programming“

Before the days of the CD-ROM, punched cards were used to store data files. How can punched cards store data and be processed further? Together we will produce punched cards and perform our own census. The fee per child is EUR 3.00. For accompanying parents we offer a guided tour on this theme for no extra charge

5 p.m. The Arithmeum restorer of calculating machines, Ullrich Wolff, will make a tour of historical mechanical calculating machines from the Arithmeum Collection

from 6 p.m. onwards „Every Visitor Counts“

A small opinion poll will be conducted among the visitors during „The Long Night in the Arithmeum„, which will then be evaluated on the historical Hollerith punched card machine. This interesting process can be followed by the visitors. There will also be hourly tours on this theme, in particular on data processing from early times till today and simple programming methods using punched cards
