In the opera cycle „Licht“ by Karlheinz Stockhausen, the archangel Michael appears in the form of one or more trumpeters. The intensive cooperation in connection with the opera cycle inspired the „Michael„-trumpeters involved (Andreas Adam, Marco Blaauw, Achim Gorsch, Markus Stockhausen) to form a new ensemble and to specialize in a form of music that imparts new impulses in accordance with the present age. Their enjoyment in working together and the success of their concerts have established them as an ensemble of the beginning twenty-first century. And furthermore, it is part of their creed to perform in architecturally interesting surroundings like the Arithmeum.
