Olivetti Audit 302

Full text adding-booking machine with two counting units

1956

Starting in 1955, the Audit 202 accounting machine was built, followed by the Audit 302 model in 1956. They thus continued the Audit 42 and Audit 51 series of machines started in 1940, which are Olivetti typewriters with dial-adding units attached. The Audit 202 is essentially a Model 24 duplex adding machine (built from 1954) with a controllable wide carriage. The Audit 302 contains the Audit 202 as its core, plus an electrically driven typewriter with the keyboard placed in front of the adding machine keys. Three parts determine the functionality of such a calculating accounting machine: the calculating part with the memory units, the writing unit and the control unit. In this machine, the control section is particularly remarkable because it is designed in such a way that a lever can be used to select among four different programs, which are set in advance on a rider rail under the paper carriage. This model was built until 1959, the successor models were the Audit 502 and 513. For adding machine technology, see Olivetti Duplex 24 CR.
