Soroban

Halbreformierter japanischer Abakus

ab 2000 BC

Soroban

Half Reformed Japanese Abacus

from 2000 B.C.

It can be assumed due to the closed backside that this Soroban is an early variant of the 1 to 5 Soroban. The rods are made of metal and show some corrosion spots. Except for the middle place of this 15-digit Soroban, all places on the middle bar have a designation in Kanji characters. The workmanship of the frame with a precisely executed miter cut is indicative of a so-called Banshu Soroban.
