The Erling Neby Collection in the Arithmeum

Ina Prinz (ed.), Bouvier Verlag, Bonn 2000. 58 pages, 25 color prints.

This catalog for the exhibition “Erling Neby at the Arithmeum” offers a personal insight into concrete, geometric-constructivist art from a Nordic perspective. Over 30 years, Erling Neby has built up an outstanding collection in Oslo, the core of which consists of striking works by Nordic Concretists such as Lars G. Nordstrøm, Gunnar S. Gundersen and Olle Baertling. At the same time, it also includes “classical” Concretists such as Auguste Herbin, Victor Vasarely and François Morellet. In cooperation with the Arithmeum's collection, which is currently being built up, a lively collaboration is being created that impressively demonstrates how colorful and diverse this art movement in Scandinavia still is today.
