Bob Bonies in the Arithmeum

Ina Prinz (ed.). Bouvier Verlag. Bonn 2003. 47 pages, 31 color prints.

This catalog shows the current further development of the De Stijl principles by the Dutch artist Bob Bonies. In addition to the primary colors, he integrates green into his large-format works and combines circular segments with strict, rectangular shapes. In this way, he draws on hard-edge painting and takes up classic shaped canvases. He is particularly interested in movement: The arrangement of colors and surfaces creates subtle shifting effects that challenge our spatial perception and illustrate how timeless and fresh a formally constructed composition can still be today.
