The exhibition "Thinking around three corners - slide rules and surveying" presents historical slide rules that were used specifically for calculating surveying tasks. However, numerous other instruments were needed for correct land surveying, such as graphometers, direction finders and protractors. These are on display in the form of beautifully adorned originals on loan from the Morizet Collection in France.
How fields, towers and hills were measured with the help of slide rules more than 200 years ago can be seen for yourself in the guided tours of the exhibition. In the 20th century, special calculating machines were also built especially for geodesists. We would like to thank Werner Rudowski for the curatorial design of the exhibition, Rainer Heer for the texts and all the lenders, thanks to whom the history of surveying can be experienced again with the help of impressive originals.
