Leibniz already had a clear idea of how to represent numbers mechanically. He discovered that binary numbers were over 2000 years old and invented a machine which could do binary calculations using small balls. The principle has not changed , right up to the computer age. We will together inspect and demonstrate a fully functional computer – bigger than several wardrobes - built by Konrad Zuse in 1967, and will program it.
