Brunsviga 1000 E (demonstration model)

Two-species segment adding machine

1952

This is the successor model to Brunsviga's first full keyboard machine, Model AS (see Inv. No. FDM 9375), which was developed in the 1930s but was not ready for production until 1949. However, the same technology can be found under the casing with a rounded shape. This machine can be operated by either a hand crank or an electric motor, switching is accomplished by disconnecting/connecting the hand crank. It has the following function keys: Setting unit clearing, repetition, non-addition, subtraction, subtotal, final total, addition. The machine can calculate below zero and was built until 1957. The case of this specimen was removed for demonstration purposes.
