Gerhard Schöne (born in 1952) was one of best known singer-songwriters in the German Democratic Republic (DDR) and continues to be successful today with concerts and new CDs. One of the main reasons for his popularity is his collection of children's songs from all over the world and also from his own pen. On account of his commitment to the needs of children he was made a UNICEF ambassador.

Gerhard Schöne is certainly masterful at surprising his expectant audiences with novel ideas like the project "The Songs of Photographers". Here he projects impressive black-and-white photographs from the 1980s and relates moving as well as weird stories interspersed with poetic thoughts. This combination of photographs and songs comprises a very unusual sight and sound experience.
