Ensemble „Rajaton“ (Finnland)

a-cappella-Musik from Folk-Music to Pop-Music

„Rajaton“ is the only professional a-cappella group in Finland and has already become legendary in their home country. The name „Rajaton“, which denotes „unbounded“ in Finnish, adequately describes their repertoire which reaches from sacred music to pop music, folk songs and all the way to contemporary composers. All six singers of the group have studied singing at the Pop & Jazz Conservatoire of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. As their repertoire naturally pertains mainly to Finnish literature, they are planning to include several German and English pieces for their appearance in the Arithmeum. Since winning the first prize at the International Grand Prix in Tampere, Finland in 1999 and appearing internationally for the first time at the Cork Festival, Ireland in 2000, the „Rajaton“ singers have continuously extended their radius. They have made concert tours to Canada, France, Spain, Italy and England, and regularly appear at home in churches, concert halls and jazz clubs, thus making their singing „rajaton“ as well.
