Ensemble Orion directed by Jean-Luc Darbellay

„A Garden for Orpheus“

Jean-Luc Darbellay, whose works „Azure“ for horn quartet and „Shadows“ for percussion were performed with great success by the Leipzig Horn Quartet and the Leipzig Percussion Ensemble during the last season of the „concerto discreto“ in the Arithmeum, will give a concert in a class of its own on the above date. Together with his family ensemble including his daughter Noelle-Anne Darbellay (violin) and his son Olivier Darbellay (horn), he will test the resonance of the Arithmeum with new compositions. His enthusiasm for this venue led him to make the following statement after his last concert here: „The concert in the Arithmeum, this novel, unique building with wonderful acoustics for my „spatial pieces“, is still echoing within me. The interested public possesses a fabulous qualité d'écoute, a cultivated listening sense of unusual intensity. Hardly ever have I met such an atmosphere of emotional and intellectual concentration at any of the concerts that I have been to! It was a magnificent experience for a composer!“ - Thus the public can look forward expectantly to this concert of Darbellay's new compositions.
