Alliage Quartett & Jang Eun Bae

Una voce poco fa

Saxophones are made of an alloy of copper and zinc. The French word for "alloy" is "alliage", and this word gave rise to the name of this saxophone quartet: four different musicians fuse to form a homogeneous whole. The basis of their musical work consists of original works of the classical saxophone repertoire as well as of pioneering contemporary compositions. Transcriptions and arrangements also play an important role. And how extraordinarily refreshing a saxophonic excursion into other epochs and musical forms can be, is shown by their programme "Una voce poco fa" with opera paraphrases. Their CD of this programme has just been awarded the ECHO Classic 2005 prize. The Alliage Quartet is reinforced and completed by the Korean pianist Jang Eun Bae.
