Hahn adding machine
This rather plain machine made of brass and steel has six dials in a row. Its purpose is to mechanize the changeover between “Kreuzer” and “Gulden”, where 1 Gulden = 60 Kreuzer. The dials are set by means of a stylus. Only addition is possible. The dials are returned to zero by turning them back. The machine lies in a leather-covered wooden box featuring a few ornaments. It bears no signature. In design and function it can perhaps be collated with the adding machines of Hahn and Auch. The tens-carry mechanism is fully functional, but simpler than in the machines of Auch. It is known that Hahn built between three and five adding machines which he sold during his lifetime. None of these have, however, turned up to date.
