Old Problems in Discrete Mathematics and its Modern Applications

This interactive multimedia CD comprises four excursions, each beginning with a classic mathematical problem which, together with its solution method, is highly relevant today in the field of discrete mathematics applications. The excursions are accompanied by spoken text in both German and English, and by animations, videos, and music. Interactive examples and exercises help the viewer to understand the mathematical backround.

In the introduction the origins of the Steinertree problem are presented. In the application you may try for yourself the solving of a simple Steinertree problem.
