The Scottish Baron John Napier achieved fame with his two reckoning aids: in 1614 he published a table of logarithms and in 1617 he invented the reckoning rods named after him, which made multiplication very simple. Soon after his death, slide rules were invented. These use logarithmic scales for simplifying multiplication and division. Together we shall learn how to use Napier\'s rods. We will also discover how slide rules work.
